         Title:  SNOWY , [the Pampered Member] 

 My name is Snowy, a  German spitz by birth;

I belonged to Roy family as a puppy of one month;

I heard later from the little daughter that I was 

The most precious birthday-gift in her life !

My memory is sharp to remember my early days.

She called me 'Snowy' as I looked like furry piece of white  ice. 

She recorded  in the album as her pride piece, all my activities!

She  used to go  in the afternoon to play with her friends;

 I behave ferocious to them, as I felt lonely and sad without her!

I will narrate you my memoir bit by bit of thirteen years!

Sipra's Diary: Of Two weeks

 

I had an appointment in Brookline for health Insurance issue . My daughter booked an Uber taxi . I always take time to get the seat properly ;

To my wonder, I saw my daughter seated by my left side . The doors on both sides of the car opened like the wings of a bird, allowing us to have seats simultaneously.

I exclaimed 'wow!'to the smiling young driver ,"Let me take your  snap as my first ride to "TESLA' !

So far I only witness  on the TV screen that the winged Tesla also capable to fly over the crowded street like an ostrich!  Are you the owner of this?" 

The driver nodded his head !

Sipra's Diary:Recollections ......[ stories from Mom]

                                            [ story from mom:  [  + 2. Kalidas;/  3. Akabar  ]

Once upon a time, the herbivores came complaining  to  god  that why there was so much injustice in his Creation ; why they had  no freedom to roam or eat in the forest  freely; why they  often had to be victim to wild animals  in the forest !

Not only the herbivores but also carnivores ,omnivores ,even the fish & reptiles  appealed god to change this order of 'eat or to be eaten'!

God thoughtfully replied,  "In  collaboration with Nature I did my best.   But I want peace for you all." 

"So let me  experiment first for only 'one year' : I bless you to fulfill your wish. Hereby I am changing the previous order ."

 All the living beings came back with happy heart .  ...But after one year they all came back to approach  god to take back the blessing and bring back the previous order in this Creation!

God asked them innocently, "Why, what's the problem now?"

The  sum  and substance of their grievance was  that each specie had multiplied so much that they could not accommodate space to live or eat  to survive. There were no plants left in  the  jungle to feed extra mouths. The herbivores were fighting violently among themselves for food. 

Big fish extinguished for prolonged fasting but the small fish multiplied to accommodate themselves whether in the pond, in lakes or  even in ocean  . They were also fighting  among themselves and became food for one another .

   Omnipotent God smirked  and said ,"OK, go back to your old system  again,  accepting the cycle of food-chain : eat or to be eaten !"

The story of  the great poet  Kalidas is well known in the world.He  was one of the nine  gems in the court during Gupta empire in 3/4  C.E

The era of Gupta empire is known as 'Golden Age' of India . Art, sculpture literature, music , astronomy , physics, mathematics flourished throughout the country.The great concept of 'zero' originated by Aryabhattya( one of the nine gems )  in this land  of India.

Every year tourists thronged in front of the Ajanta & Ellora mountain caves where amazing painting and sculpture  on the mountain caves witness the  ancient civilization!

Anyway, my story is about Kalidas .In his early life he was illiterate and known as an utterly stupid . [That trails  another story of his life, written by me few years ago]. He became so learned by the blessings of goddess of learning.

He was appointed as the ' Noborotno' 'Mohakobi'  Kalidasa in the royal court.  Those who knew about early life of Kalidasa were unhappy and also jealous. One day a senior Pandit  challenged the emperor about the profundity of wisdom of  Kalidas.

Emperor: "OK, tomorrow  I will summon   a special conference in the court in front of you to prove truth ."

The court was overcrowded with enthusiastic audience. By the order of the emperor  there was an ugly dry branch  was  kept in front of the throne. 

The emperor called the senior pandit  first and asked to describe the branch laid infront of the throne.

The pandit along with the court was surprised for such drama. He answered with negligence ,

   "Suskong  kasthong   tisthoti  agre".......         ( in Sanskrit )

     =A dry piece of log is laying in front ...

Nobody described better than the first one .

The emperor asked  lastly Kalidas to describe. 

Looking at the dry log  Kalidas  recited  sonorously: 

         " Niros torubar purato bhagey"  ......           [in sanskrit]

This is what is known as   'literature '!

To express the ordinary in extraordinary way!

To present even an ugly as a piece of beauty !!

Akbar the Great was most popular  of the  Mughol  emperors in India  during  1556 to 1605. He appointed Birbal as his adviser in his  court.

Birbal was renowned for his wisdom and wit. There are many funny as well as intelligent stories of him. We read those stories  in our school life.  Akbar loved him .Birbal was accompanied by the emperor everywhere. He enjoyed high salary and luxury .

The soldiers and  their chief complained to the king that Birbal did not  do any hard work like them .He did not fight with the enemy to save the country. They did at the cost of lives ;  still he had higher salary and better life .Why His Majesty was partial in judgement?

Akbar replied  Birbal ranked high for his great  intelligence and farsightedness; He would prove them just now.

Akbar summoned one of his army and asked  him to  survey  outside the east side of  the fort wall and report him. When he returned 

 Akbar asked him 'what did you saw there?'

  "Me Lord,I saw nothing but a   barking dog  on the ground".

Akbar: " o! was it a male  dog or bitch ?'

*_ " Am not sure of that ,Lord,"

Akbar asked a second man who  informed that it was a bitch .

*" Had the bitch any puppy with her ?"Akbar asked.

*"It was lying in a shallow and shadowy ditch No puppy were there ."

*Another army was sent who reported that there're  newborn puppy in the ditch who were protected under the belly of the bitch.

"Really, that' s so sweet ! So how many puppies were there?''

*"I did  not  go near for counting , as their  mother was whimpering aggressively".

   Another one was ordered to go for counting .

*He reported that the bitch had delivered six cute babies ". 

Akbar asked "How many of them are male and female ?"

"That was hard to know  for me,Lord.

Then some other one went to the same place and reported ,

"Lord, with great courage I went near & found out of the six four were bitch while two were dogs."

Then Akbar sent his vassal to call the 'Mantri'(minister) from his home .AS the minister came to the court  Akbar ordered  him the same job (like the first army-man ) to do.

The minister went there and came back to Akbar after surveying . 

Akbar  repeated all those  previously asked questions    to the minister.

The minister answered correctly ; the emperor asked some additional questions  also  and  got correct information from the minister .

Turning to the courtiers, the emperor said confidently "the minister was  paid high for his  intelligence  and  ability of keen sight. He  alone could do  the job easily whereas you needed  a dozen of men power !'

The complainers  sat silently with heads down!

The story of the Mughal emperor Akbar's experiment is suitable example to prove the importance of ear. Akbar himself was illiterate but he was no less than a pandit ; He learnt  only  by listening from the wise  pandit .Once there was dispute among the people about language  : Which language was god-given and noblest of all. 

To solve the problem, Akbar the Great  ordered his minister to collect 10 babies of six months  from the parents  who  have  unique  linguistic difference  and. to keep these ten babies in ten different  sound proof chambers under proper baby-care.  Only the ten deaf and dumb   care-takers. were  appointed  to take care  for. those  babies.  These babies belong to the parents who  followed the language of   Urdu ,Farsi,  Sanskrit ,  Pali, Maithily , brojobuli and some local ,even tribal language. When  the babies  became  five years old.  they were presented in the royal court.  

The court was overcrowded   of the mass  with  high pitch of excitement . To their disappointment  it was found that  all.  those. ten babies  were deaf and dumb ;  none of them could speak  in any language at all .Thus the emperor convinced the common people  that no language could  claim superior to other as  "God's language". All languages were equal.The baby learn  that language  which they listen from the parent or in environment ;  if  they hear nothing as  sound of language   from the beginning of birth ,they would learn  nothing .

         Though. some. people were not happy , but  they couldn't argue Thus  Akbar the Great  solved the dispute of language  peacefully . He was able to run on with  the same "FARSI".  as court language of the country.He reigned from 1556 to  1605 as most popular Mughal emperor,  in spite of being illiterate but wise  only by  listening. He wrote a book named "Akbar-E-Nama" to compromise the conflict  between Hindu-ism and  Islamist.

Selected the April that debuted as all fools’day!

If no historical background is found as its origin for  fun,

Let us replace the hoax by more poetic and sweeter month, 

May-fool?  To amend by Plundering the past “ globo-blunder”?

                  APRIL FOOL

 

In early days of my school-life ,

Often I was confused to be duped  

By some of my classmate who cried out,

“Hey, a wasp  hovering over your head!"

Holding  the bag on head 

 Immediately I screamed.

Group of classmates jumped and shouted 

"April-fool , April-fool !”

 While I understood nothing!

 

Throughout my school-life I remained 

A super-duper model of April-fool;

Both in school or in neighborhood! 

Though I tried hard to be smart 

Protecting from friends to be alert

Tricked by  any  foolish act !

 

Starting from my first school 

I was gullible fool on each April! 

Searching the meaning of 

Celebrating such hoax as festival 

Throughout the world,

When did it origin?

What was the historical background?

Perhaps some story be found 

In the fertile hunting   ground of Internet!

 

Why not to replace 'May-fool' or 'June-fool'  

That sounds more poetic 

And sweeter than April-fool!

Sipra's Diary: For WROV: Women Raise Our Voice

 

 

Women Raise Our Voice .

 

                “ I am a woman of colored glass

                  Through  whom passes every changing with colors

                  I am the woman of NO One 

                  And perhaps I am not even a woman.”

It is high time for women to mute and meditate,-to listen the inner voice in solitude ; to follow and flow with Nature who nurtures  more than billion years this living world , great and small, including  the quintessential form of human  being as whole.

Nature protects her creation with the immense power of patience & tolerance , defending  the catastrophes  of Tsunami earthquake , flood and fury of volcanic eruptions.

  

 *   Women are backbone of  society  and bedrock of nation;  As   pillars of the family and community they are significant contributors  to  ensure long-term  overall progress  and bring Stability. They bring unique emotional connection  which is precious , not only with the fellow beings but, even to the pet animals and plant  in the garden.

 It is historically proved that in the primary stage of family bonding of Clan life ,  most societies of the world were  matriarchal . Because group of women and men lived under certain  leader of  the clan. There was no identity of individual father. All the children were recognized with the name of  the clan-leader.  

But the children were close and attached to mother as only women have the power to give birth by dint of having wombs   and children survived by the breast milk of mother . The children grew up under the care of nurturing mother  Naturally   children had greater emotional connection with mothers.

 

In those days Women group were powerful as they have the power of producing babies . Fathers were unknown to the children. Women were adorable in society viewed as  contributors to produce   babies . So they need not to raise loud voice to claim rights.

 

With the progress of civilization, women  gradually  lost power .  Men had greater physical power. The then society was based on the principle of “Might is right “ Thus  Inequality of physical power  imbibed immense mental strength to men folk. 

Secondly, agriculture was the first step of civilization  and beginning of downfall of women’s, enjoying from  previous position

Women as mother had to stay home for   bearing and nurturing babies ; they   contributed less than  men  as labors  in the economy. 

 

Thus men as father became the bread earner while women’s role  was primarily taking care of  children and husbands; to look after the comfort and peace for  home.

Thus a natural wall between women and men rose,  dividing  the roles between  women and men.

As men turned to be  abuser  [following the adage ‘Power corrupts’,] women were  treated  almost like slave , deprived of social justice.  Then they united to  revolt .   The brave black American women played crucial role to raise their voice   to  make the weaker  section  to be spirited  Courageous. 

*Female bravery  Changed their destiny in every sphere: financial , political , social .

 Through positive activism  they won rights of vote ,equality in education and jobs, divorce , ending of slavery   and dictatorship .

They became  eligible of leadership; elevated from dikey to the driving seat . 

 

*From 1860 to 1960 is the glorious journey of women victory . They bridged between radicals and regulars to make the world better. Names of   Lucy Stone, Matilda ,Audre  Lorde ,  Angela Davis , Elizabeth , Simone , Betty Freidan , Gloria  Steinam  are memorable in the history of feminism .

Now it is time to assess the women’s achievement. Is this achievement aims at holistic social welfare for humanity?

While the external material prospect had prolific progress ,the inner state was not  the  same.  Women lost the balance of outer and inner state of life . 

Birth-control pill was invented for the good but implemented in wrong  way .It weakened the plinth of marriage –institution. Women lost chastity. It supported extra-marital relationship. For the job women have to stay long away from home, 

neglecting children and house. It was hard for women to manage the  house –affairs meticulously with the pressure of job.

 

From the last part of twentieth century   new type of social problems were experienced: micro-family , random divorce, preserving egg through [ ivf ],   drug-addiction among young adult, school-drops , gun-violence in school etc.  ‘Sweet home ‘  turned into  a  fire-house. Young men and women were reluctant to marry in time as sex was abundant  and women were financially independent .

 Independent life and power of women hurt the male ego of superiority. 

 

Gay marriage , LGBT  came out from the cupboard   and legalized in many places .

Nature intended to continue the human species as male and female for the special purpose  of procreation. 

The quintessential form of woman is to be caring  wife and nurturing mother .Do we have any Plato Aristotle ,Socrates , Galileo ,Newton,   Milton ,Homer , Shakespeare  or Wordsworth  within last  hundred years?  Mothers  and wives of these genius were  dedicated home-makers, care-taker,  not career-makers.

 

 Women need to revert  their  iconic  identity:to be replica of nurturing nature .  Otherwise ,disaster will happen ; human specie is  already suspending  on the verge of collapse. 

 

Wrong concept of "gender. -bias"  is leading  males  weak and to  die ; gradually  they may extinguish .

Male and female are like two  wings of a bird .The. Bird  needs.  a pair of  wings to fly.

There is an old adage that once  you  get over   "Fear" "Shame " "Contempt " for the first time ,then you are  free for the whole life from them.!

It is a great shame that  the women adopt    "# me too".  as a weapon , a safeguard   to save their 'so-called 'prestige' .   SO ridiculous !....it is like undressing  to restore the 'stolen nudity!'

Dozen and dozen  "# me too". started to come out from the closet which remained in the dark for the most primimum part of life.

It is hard to detect or judge the real culprit .In the ENTERTAINMENT   world  , specially,  women had been brutally molested  but they   remained silent ;  partly to negotiate shame and prestige in lieu of career.

 Shame is the most precious ornament /apparel of women. It should not be used as 'opportunity'. Aren't the scanty dress of women are provoking to opposite sex?

Sipra's Diary: Funny Dream (Memoir)

 

                                        Funny Dream

Like banquet  in marriage party,  death ceremony  is also celebrated  with big party with gourmet food  in India.

One day I had a funny dream ;  

As if I died and my dead body on a plank was carried,  following by a procession , very much in Indian  style. But the funny thing was  that I found myself also at the end as follower in  the funeral team ,  and I was crying mournfully in agony!

My daughter shook me ;I drank water and resume to sleep again .  In the morning I was thinking of the dream, sitting on the bed. My daughter asked me, 

"did you have  bad dream yesterday? I woke up by your eerie sound of whimpering."

"Yes. I narrated the dream to her .

With mischievous smile  on face she commented jovially,"O, what  a greedy lady! You don't wish to spare delicious food even  your own  obituary!"

I replied," instead of becoming sad at my  death you'r joking, silly girl!"

She swiftly came near to me and sitting on her knee with spreading arms like wings dramatically , 

  " did you expect me to embrace your dead body like a Bollywood movie star and howl ' Oh Ma, Ma! I can't live without you & strike my head against your chest!"

I couldn't but lough  to see. her  drama and buffoonery.
