Sira's Diary : [Rep] Kitchen & Curiosity> "Churning of The Ocean"

CHURNING OF THE OCEAN:        Sipra. Roy.

Many scientific thesis/ idea popped up in the kitchen and proliferated later as   great mind-blowing discovery. Such as:  the boiling water making the lid move on the kettle made James Watt curious in his early boyhood . It gave him the idea of Power that Steam can produce, which inspired him later to discover ‘steam- engine’.

A falling apple from the tree led a kid to discover the   law of gravitation; while. most  kids feel to rush and grab it quickly.

Many discoveries pop up from simple incidents due to curiosity of:   "how" and "why"!

Necessity and curiosity are the keys or  ‘mother of all inventions’.

While I cut vegetables or work  with the mixer  or fruit juicer ,many interesting ideas  related to this cosmos  evolve in my mind. In my busy days most ideas came and faded away as there was no time to ruminate or culture . Now often they peep at and beckon me from their  coffin boxes at tomb.

When I work on blender with milk for coffee   it reminds me the churning of the ocean as cream of the milk  floats as  some thick layer over the milk,  while the blades  spin with milk in the container of blender.

Similarly, due to the churning of the ocean the best material of the earth came up upper  layer  which is described in Hindu religion as "Amrita", which means ambrosia

It is only the Hindu scripture which mentions and explains elaborately  about the churning of the  ocean  in details.  It represents the latest scientific theory of DNA in the   most attractive and interesting coverage  of mythological stories thousands and thousands years ago! I often feel about the cosmologist to dive deep into Hindu Cosmological theory   thoroughly  first before   wasting  huge money globally, for scientific research in lab!

It is really amazing   to think  how the Hindu scriptures  treasure the  symbiosis of   cosmic vibrations and cosmology so vividly : nothing is lost  since the universe is born ;  only needs exploration with new lens of mind, new version of consciousness!

Kitchen is a great laboratory to learn and practice. I purchased some Onions. They look very good and fresh from the outside. When I cut the big one   in two pieces then I noticed that some of the middle  portion of the onion was discolored and  rotten .So I peeled the onion layer by layer to discard  the rotten portion from  the middle .

To my surprise I noticed that every layer of the onion was clothed with a superfine thin silky  layer (like jacket ) which separate each layer from the other. Nature gave them the power of 'social distance" from the infected one. So I cut the rotten portion of any fruit or vegetable (  like local surgery! ) to save the rest  for consuming.

When I cut vegetables or fruits, I am amazed to notice how do the crafty nature arranged the seeds  inside  the fruit both with

 sagacity and art !

I took the photo of the onion I mentioned above, and   an apple cut -in two halves with seeds embedded  within it   like  flowery pattern in a Jewelry box.  I wish to attach the photos with this article, ( if I can! )

Sipra's Diary:[ Old File.] Why , why can't I ?..........

     MONOLOGUE

"If happy little bluebird can fly,

O, why, why can't I ?"...........

I was listening to the music; ... true,  why am I lagging behind the time?

Why can't I overcome my shortcoming? Why, why do I fail to keep in pace and rhythm !  If I can't then

I  will lag behind the time.   I am suffering for my. incompetence of tech-knowledge. I went library and some senior centre to fulfil the purpose but in. vain. most seniors are interested in  learning only social

media; Facebook  WhatsApp, photo, music, games ,   movie etc and not more than that; The instructor

also was in service for the majority. Nobody

had an interest in learning MS words or other things. I wanted to learn thoroughly like a student in

school/college.

I wish some philanthropist to come and teach people like us who are  still eager to learn, to walk

with  the rhythm of time.

In this technology-driven world, people have  to grasp  over technology well .

I love writing.; and I wanted to protect my stuff.  But very often they become vanished.  So  being

frustrated I tried to go back to the traditional land of pen and paper. But the computer  fascinated

me so much in a short period that I lost the old track. In this conflict between computer and pen

and paper, I am confused to decide where should I land my pad-craft to sprinkle  ink and  convert my

thought into script /print?  Under the pressure of this dilemma, my writing spirit began to dwindle.

My brother suggested  me to take a job in the library,  post-Office or  in StarBucks,  since every institution

is digital, It may be helpful for me.

I can try in the library in my neighbourhood. I have to be a volunteer as a computer teacher  for the

Beginner class for a certain period.   Hope I' am able enough to take the "beginners ' class with my

 limited digital knowledge.

But, Instead of that, why not to try in a publishing house?

Pioneering ventures into little known waters?

                                                                              "Wading in water,/Wading in water".......

Sipra's Diary: "Panic-in-JFKAirport. [* Story of sil-nora>Indian device to grind spice! ]

 Bombing panic of 9/11th,2001

Mrs.and Mr Kundu  seemed to gain lottery ticket when their  long-time friend Mr Saha   brought  marriage proposal of his own nephew  Joydeep who came from US for two months!

There was nothing special of their daughter Kajol. She was only19 studying BA in City College, average looking, middle complexion. Mr. Kundu and Mr Saha both were UDC clerks in writers's building.

Joydeep was a software Engineer working in Infosys of Dallas. After marriage  Joydeep went back Dallas with kajole.

More exciting event than the marriage was  that Mrs.Kundu  would go to Dallas for 6 months as Kajole was pregnant. Her packing was ready :One big suitcase for checking and a carry-on cabin suitcase.   Just one week was  was still left .

It was Nov, 2001.Just two months ago historical  disaster of 9/11 ransacked the psychological stability as well as financial backbone of America... Suspicion and insecurity swept over the cool and calm mind of the whole land. Every day Kajole  cautioned her mom what she shouldn't  not take.

But last time she informed that very good  Hilsa of  Padma from Bangladesh  was available in Dallas. Though the Hilsha was good but "vapa-sorse-hilsa'  preparation was not enough tasty. Her Bangladeshi friend said that  because  spice [dijon] prepared  in electrical mixie  caused little bitter taste!

So mrs. Kundu haunted a portable  tiny -'Sil-nora' from Borobazar to Kidirpore, Bagbazar to Sealdah!  Finally She managed to pack the   flat 'Sil'of stone  in "Check- in box " but  she had no other way to pack its partner 'Nora' [ in a tight velvet bag like ornament ], in her vanity bag made of durable crocodile skin, purchased from New Market. She was sure to cook "delicious-dish of vapa illish" for her pregnant daughter !

With full of nervousness and excitement she landed Dallas Airport which was full of chaos and crowd in 'customs and Immigration.' Each passenger was questioned and checked thoroughly which took long time.

When Mrs Kundu's turn came, She was enquired about the fancy and gorgeous velvet  clothed stony 'Nora'!  Mrs Kundu was unable to explain in her poor english to the American officer or his assistant ! She was requested to wait, attended by a security officer. Mrs Kundu felt her throat dry in worry; She took oath in silence to learn spoken english thoroughly before coming to America next time.

Her thought was interrupted as two strong persons with defense uniform came to mrs.Kundu.  with the instruction of the Security officer! They ordered,

"Give Your Vanity bag ." Mrs Kundu obeyed silently.

They asked again,"Do you have any arms, weapon or bomb inside ?

 "Nno, no,  never !"

One of the officer opened the bag cautiously and threw overturned  on the ground ;   everything  were scattered including the ''Nora" of solid  stone  dropped  on the marble ground making horrible  sound !

All on a sudden the noise came to pin-dropped silence followed simultaneously from few panicky voice,

"Bomb , it is Bomb!"

Run away, runaway.................

In a twinkle of an eye the place was deserted except the officer and fainted body of Mrs kundu.

"Nora" was collected and sent  for scrutiny  to "bomb"alert  department .Two   sniffing police-dogs convinced of safety;  mrs.Kundu on stretcher was sent for First Aid.

.......................................................................................................

Kajol switched onT.V little worriedly to watch evening news at 6:oopm!  Mother's  flight landed on 12.45pm.  They arranged airport shuttle to pick up mother as they stayed far from the  airport . Her mother is pretty intelligent to travel alone inside India.   She had confidence on her.

The opening evening news was,"Bomb in the airport of Dallas !

Kajol started crying ; She immediately informed Joydeep in the office to go and fetch her mom safely.

Joydeep was in some meeting; he requested his boss to preside over the meeting, as he was in troubled situation!

He saw outside the meeting hall  some  office staffs are laughing   and discussing humorously  about the false news of bombing . All the news channels declared with apology what actually happened!

He again got a call from Kajol.

Kajol assured  that her mother had reached home safe  trailing with her  a historical story which will be shared later at dinner time!

Joydeep placed the phone-receiver  and gave a sigh of relief  with  smile!

Sipras Diary: [Poems ].> "INSPIRATIONAL"

 #(1)

What music the bees murmur

To the swaying buds in breeze?

Inspiring them to bloom and smile.

Can you smile like that, to me !

#(2)

I wish to cherish

The warmth of Love

That soothes the heart

To rest as peaceful dove!

#(3)

Wake up, wake up kids,

The birds are busy to tweet,

The sun god with the mild-red dress

Peeps from the east corner to bless!

 #(4)

If I were an angel

Hula-la, hula-la la,

I could donate delicious

Buckets of cake and candy

For the orphans who live in the tents!

Sipra's Diary: [Rep]. Journalism & Journalists in Democracy !

Urmila's Letter :: Tadpole or Chameleon

The position of journalism in a democracy is almost as powerful as a nuclear bomb; but not so....  for the journalists. Their position is precarious. After all, it is a job, a career for them; they wish to marry and maintain family-like other and not to be martyrs like freedom fighters.
But they need to act like that of a 'virtual hero' with a digital pen which is mightier than the sword' throughout the career-life: double role! A double-coloured balloon pumped with (questionable!) patriotism. In one hand they project themselves as a supporter of social welfare to cajole and coax the public sentiment. Because people are the King-maker in democracy; so the axis of journalists is tilted towards the mass . And Government also holds silent support to the social media to fuel the people's sentiment by criticizing government's act at random so that people,s steam of anger is vaporized by them through the 'rights' to express free opinions. Freedom to criticize the ruling party is a great catharsis for the people to keep the political atmosphere cool down. So media acts as a cooling conductor between the public and the ruling party to protect the government from unwanted rebel and fury of the mass.

So the status of journalists in a democratic state is to remain either as chameleons or tadpoles in water but near the land; tadpoles look like a school of small fish or baby snake; journalists need to please both: the public and government..Like tadpoles sometimes need to kiss the frog or snake or dive underwater like fish, depending on the situation. They need public support for their sustenance but for the survival?.. They need the favour of the ruling party; they encourage the thief to steal in one hand and warn the householder to be alert on the other hand. But never forget to maintain an under-current connection with the ruling power, the oxygen supplier.

Sipras Diary:( Rep/Jan18/23) EXCERPT from the Drama "MONOLOGUE". [ D-workshop -for-Broadway ]June20/2025

Wednesday, January 18, 2023

                                       Title:  Monologue

Michelle: ( present age 73)

Sitting with a photo frame which bears the   group   photo of  High school   students  on the last day of graduation. when I  was 17 years old and most of the group were   almost  more or less  of same range.   It was late afternoon when the last rays of setting sun through the window illumines   miserly a small section of  the half-dark studio room ;

She was sitting  on the  corner of  her  bed  near the window ; there are some more photos scattered  on  the bed beside her and a beautiful large album  which resembles a piece of art .She looked lost in  the photo frame  and roaming in her memory lane ;her  cheeks bears  dry stream of tears .She was looking at her friend ,Sylvia who left to the other world few hours ago.

 Michelle:(.  (Monologue):>>>>>>>>>>(in Flash-back...)

.......Sylvia , you too left me alone  in  this vast  world , while I came back alive from nursing home   after  critical  heart surgery! You   were always runners up to me , not only in sport and game ,  but in study , drama , music or  art, but   in every field   in the  game  of life you beat me , kick me .....

Gazing at the photo of closely- knitted four   friends I was  roaming through my memory lane throughout the day ; we four were really soulmates ;we had never  any quarrel.

..Remember? The class mates nicknamed us with  a funny title "Misy-patpy"seaming  the   four names together  'Michelle, Sylvia, patty and poppy' like a  bouquet.

Look , how bright we were,  eyes of each were full of dream& hope glittering   like glowing stars. You and I started our school life from   nursery  in Midtown Brooklyn High school;  Patti and poppy joined us in grade nine.

We were the prominent "so-called "Pop students in the class.  We get attention from teachers as well as from students . The first stage of  our  initial life spent well .  I was strong in literature; my aim of life was to be writer-cum -film director; Sylvia excelled in photography  : you took your passion as your  profession too.  you got job in some trade magazine as  assistant photographer. Patty became  a very successful entrepreneur   of event-management , and Poppy ?

She   always wanted a handsome rich man to marry and to be a loving wife and mother ; she used to say that  she was raised by single mother and felt tired   and pity of hardship of mother's working-life  for herself ;She had no wish to get job  . She did not    even take admission to any college .

She met her future husband first in the Brooklyn Garden during Cherry Blossom festival. Poppy was 'black beauty' of our school.  she looked like a statue of black-stone ; some  boys had  crush on her and called her  as beautiful as Nefartiti.

Poppy got married within six months of her High school  graduation  with  the man of her first love . Remember ?   how much we  the 'Misy-Patpy' enjoyed the ceremony  in Charleston as bride's maid ! Her husband was the owner of some four star luxurious hotel of  Charleston . We spent a whole week  at the insistence of the couple !

Yes,  She led a happy married//conjugal life  for 11 years with two children .Then she fell sick with slow fever and caugh.  She neglected it initially ;  her husband forced her  to visit a doctor .She was diagnosed lung cancer  and  in quite  advanced stage!  I  visited  her  last only five days before her death. ...I spent with her whole day in the nursing home .  As I got ready to leave her she  burst into tears  embracing  me and said whispering ,

"do you know(struggling  a long  breathe) that   not  the  disease but what  pinched me bitterly --is that  Mark  is dating    a woman  who is a Dr of this nursing home , as he came to know  my days are limited..." a second wave  of louder cry made her body shiver like seizure.

"Please pray god to take me  quickly, and take care of my children.  She released me and looking straight to me in tearful eyes vomited  from poisonous voice ,

" never believe a man nor his love!"

I took my flight with sad shrouded mind .All. these years I wished her children on their birthday . They were sent to boarding  school  after their  father's  second marriage. I used to wish them in their birthday and Christmas Day ;but I stopped it as Poppy's husband didn't like it .

Story of Poppy ends in tragedy.
